Canine Arthritis: When Your Dog’s Joints Ache
Thursday, August 27th, 2009Like people, dogs can suffer from arthritis. Normally, the bones near their joints are covered with protective cartilage. When they walk, run, or move in any way, the cartilage on the ends of the bones rub against each other. There is no discomfort because there are no nerves present in the material. However, over time, that protective covering slowly deteriorates. When that happens, the underlying bones are exposed to one another; when your pooch moves, they rub together and cause pain.
Dog Anxiety: What Are the Signs?
Thursday, August 27th, 2009As much as people use body language to communicate to others that they’re not a threat, so too, does your canine companion communicate with other animals (and often, humans). Professional trainers, behaviorists, and other experts suggest that dogs have recognizable tendencies that they use in order to calm other pets and themselves. Wednesday, August 26th, 2009What a great thing it is for the family to bring home a new puppy. Everyone wants to enjoy playing with their new puppy. Of course, there is one aspect of the new puppy no one likes-the puppy thinks the whole world is his toilet. Crate training puppies is the easiest and best way to deal with the whole house training process. Trust me on this, because I used to try it old school, using the newspaper on the floor method. The paper on the floor technique was a sloppy way to go about it, but better than nothing. After stepping on a particularly nasty “accident” in the middle of the night that was deviously hidden by the dark, I decided I better look into getting a crate for my puppy.

Lhaso Apso – Important Need to Know Facts!
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
Dear fellow Lhasa Apso lover,
Probably of the the most challenging aspects of working with nipping and biting in the Lhasa Apso is that it quite often starts when the Lhasa Apso is a puppy.
The behavior, when the puppy is small, is often considered rather cute.
A tiny Lhasa Apso puppy growling ferociously or chasing and nipping may appear to be almost comical but once the Lhasa Apso is full grown, the nipping is no longer funny and the cute growling has turned taking the dog out in public into an embarrassing and stressful event.
